The Carmel Market is Tel Aviv's biggest open-air market: produce, spices, bakeries, street food and household goods in one long, noisy, colourful street. It is the market most visitors have heard of, and it pairs well with the smaller Levinsky Market near our hotel.

Fruit and vegetables, nuts and dried fruit, olives, cheeses, fresh bread and pastries, spices, and a lot of ready-to-eat food. The stalls change from the produce end of the market to the clothing and household end.
The market is open most days and is closed on Saturday. Friday is the busiest and most atmospheric day, with locals shopping for the weekend, and many stalls close in the afternoon. Mornings on weekdays are calmer.
It is about 20 to 25 minutes on foot from the hotel, or a few minutes by shared bike. Taxis and ride-share apps are also quick.
The streets around the market, including Kerem HaTeimanim, are full of small restaurants, wine bars and cafés. Come hungry and graze rather than sitting down for a big meal.
